Ahhhh….The story of love. The hopeful optimism of what life will look like joined together. All bright and shiny. No messy realities, no grimy disappointments. This video and the story it tells, captivates my heart. Pure joy in its celebration with family and friends and God so obviously in the middle of it all.
Oh, I want this for my children. The perfect mate. The perfect wedding. A perfect life. I want that to be their story. We hunger for an idealized story, for our children, for ourselves.
The brokenness of our world, the realities we know to be true, have brought most of us hurtling to earth with a thud. Life’s hard places can bring to surface snarky and pessimistic arrows to shoot the whole crazy concept down, this idea of love. For we know, these sweet young lovers will experience the mess and the grime soon enough. Nothing in life, especially marriage, escapes without scars.
However, I still long for this. I long for perfection, the original intent created in the garden. You know the one, before sin crept in.
Take a look at another video. Same song, different visual. Listen to the words carefully this time.
This is the true story. The one God designed for ALL of us. Married or divorced. Single or widowed. Male or female. Every month, not just February. This IS our story. I know why the first video captured me so. There beckons within the lyrics the call of my creator to be center star in my own story.
Ultimately, eventually…we have every right to be hopeful in our optimism that perfection will be ours someday when the Lover of our souls comes back to take His bride. Until then, we wait and sing and dance and fellowship and love with abandon those we are with today. Happy February!
I am Yours and You are mine
I am ravished by the sight
Of one glimpse into Your eyes
My lover’s coming for His bride
For there is none upon the earth
That I desire before You, Lord
For You’ve been faithful all my days
Your love endures, it’ll never fade away
I need to say what my soul is singing
I need to say what my heart is screaming
I need to say what my soul is singing
I need to say what my heart is screaming
That I love You my Dear,
That I love You my Dear, my Dear
That I love You my Dear,
That I love You my Dear, my Dear
You’re everything I ever wanted, everything I ever needed
You’re everything I ever wanted, everything I ever needed
